The Story Behind ‘Two Hearts One Man’

The author entered a coma after a severe motorcycle accident with almost no chance of survival, then came close to death a second time from a severe brain injury as a result of the initial accident. He entered a coma as an agnostic/atheist, and emerged as a completely different person who knew God. He carried with him a desperate plea: God wants to be loved, so much more than we love Him.

Over the next twenty-two years, he would run from God; not wanting to do what God had asked of him. What transpired of his running is a complex and unique story with a message. God’s plea for your soul is real, and the author’s goal is to allow God to share, the depth of this, through the text of this book. Follow this journey and find your Creator in ways, you may never have even imagined…

Andrew Trueblood: A Journey of Faith and Inspiration

I grew up very poor in east central Illinois. My mom was a professional seamstress, and my dad worked a number of good jobs. We were poor because my dad spent most of the family’s income on alcohol.

My family grew up just down the road from my Grandparents. I never knew the grandparents on my dad’s side, even though they lived just five miles away. I spent most of my youth playing in the woods when I was not doing chores or working. I started baling hay when I was five. Before that, I had walked many miles of beans. Work got me away from the chaos of living with an alcoholic dad.

My dad died at 46 from liver cancer after my parents divorced. I never knew my dad, but I do have some memories of him, bad ones are hard to forget. Had it not been for the neighborhood families and my grandparents, I would have never experienced life as a family. My mom remarried an alcoholic from Charleston Illinois. We discovered after he died at fifty-two from smoking (lung cancer), he only married my mom because she had strong boys who loved to work. This man owned 108 acres of timberland that boarded Fox Ridge State Park.

From the chaos of this marriage, I left his house after high school to live with my grandparents. I attended Lakeland College where I received a two-year Associates degree in Machine shop. I entered the workforce searching for a career. A couple of jobs later, I went to work for a printing company, RR Donnelley, north of Mattoon. I worked there over twenty-three years before an accident on 9/11/2002 that left me disabled.

At RRD, I learned the direction my life would follow. Many call it materialism, yet for me, I never knew it had a name, so I excepted it as my best friend. However, it did control my life, and it did control my thoughts. As for everything else in the American lifestyle, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life, my friend never saw a problem with that. During this part of my life, I was too busy to think. I did what any driven American can do when one goes from being very poor, to having money: I bought. The more I bought, the more I worked. This merry-go-round is easy to jump on, but to get off, this takes intervention.

I left for work the evening of 9/10/2002, as an atheist. The next morning, I left work in a hurry to get home because I was running later than usual. The one-year anniversary of the terrorist attack on America that changed the landscape of our world, was about to change mine. I was in a hurry to get home to kiss my wife goodbye before she left for work. In that hurried state to get home, I hit a car with my motorcycle at 7:18 AM.

The accident was so violent on the body, there was no way for me to live outside of a miracle. That miracle found me in a coma. I came out of a six-week coma knowing God. The message I carried directly from Him is what matters to you now.

I ran from God for more than twenty-two years after He audibly spoke to me. As a TBI survivor, I did not think I was worthy to serve God. In my running, God allowed much pain in my life. I document and explain this difficult journey.

Life is very complicated, yet I explain everything in my first book: Two Hearts One Man, God’s Story Within by Andrew J Trueblood. This story will challenge your Americanized faith, that is, if you claim one. I wrote this book in the third person, why? How do you write about two completely different people who have occupied the same body?

As you read this book, you will learn of a desperate plea from God for your soul. As the Psalmist says in 46:10—“Be still and know that I am God” We don’t know who that writer was, but we do know this: he, or she, had no social media to contend with. “Be still” in our culture. How is that possible? I found mine in the pain.

Much like our faith, the person who penned this chapter in the Book of Psalms is unknown. It was written through tough times; this we do know. We are currently living with extreme uncertainty. So, you need to ask yourself a simple question: where is my faith? If it were an object, where would you place it? Is it much like the bio of my life?

Until one cool morning in September many years ago, I never knew that I could live forever. Now that I know, my life will do its best to bring glory to God.  As your friends read the bio of your life, will it indicate to whom you belonged? Is your life destined to become more than a question mark for your soul?

When asked to write the bio of my life, I found it difficult. When you have been two completely different individuals who have occupied the same body, it becomes a challenge. This would normally translate as a mental illness, but when God is involved, it becomes about faith. If you desire to understand how God works, you have to look at the work done by the Man in the middle (—Jesus Christ—)

For 45 years, 8 months, and 5 days, I never knew who I was. As for the last 23 years, five months, and 2 days, I have been trying to run from a foreign world where I do not fit in. It is now November 13, 2026, and God explained something very important to me last night in my dreams. Above all else, He wants us to worship Him through prayer—a lot of prayer.

In Acts 2:17, God says at the end of this verse: “your old men will dream dreams.” That is a fact. At the beginning of this verse, does God give a vision into our future: “In the last days.”

Are the END TIMES upon us?

Another question you may ask—are heaven and hell real? I can assure you they are.

Allow God, WHO IS LOVE, to show you “who He wants you to become.” Your Bio is waiting to be written, so allow God to help you write it.

God has much to say to you through my years of running from Him.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart

and

with all of your soul

and

with all of your mind

and

with all of your strength.” (Mark 12:30 NIV)

the before bio—is who I once was

the after bio—a person God chose me to be.
